This is Donald Willett and his wife, Viviane, on their wedding day in 1960. Donald died in a fire at their home in Winchendon last Friday. Moments before the fire, Viviane, on her way home, talked to her husband on the phone saying she was on her way home to make him stuffed peppers, one of his favorite dishes.
It was a tragic loss. But behind that tragedy is a more than 50-year-long love story, exemplified by what the 70-year-old Willett scribbled on a Christmas card to his wife last month: "Love you forever."
